i purchased one of these models from a pawn shop as is. it was a 61" made in july 2004 i purchased it in dec, of 05 for my wife am i eligible for the recall. since i am not the original owner. i tryed it at the pawn shop for about 15minutes it worked perfect .so i bought it at christmas eve we opened it and hooked it up and was enjoying very much until about an hour and a half we started smelling something electrical i checked around the house smelling around to pin point the smell sure enough it was the television. it took a while to find the smell. then after new years i went to the pawn shop and that's when they pointed out sold as is, the television is in my basement collecting dust. so i was advised of this recall and was told i could no get it repaired. buy a tv tech. i am considering a lawyer now! what if i was to decide to put up with the smell and my house cought on fire. i believe i will contact jvc and see if they will work with me. after all it does have a recall. jvs is a good brand and it is nice they posted they had a recall.
