Whole Foods Market issues allergy alert for undeclared walnuts in Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

- AUSTIN, Texas March 22, 2012 - Whole Foods Market is recalling Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies because the product has undeclared walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

The recalled items were sold at Whole Foods Market stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The product is packaged in a small brown paper bag, with a clear window and a chocolate chip cookie label on front. The sell-by date and UPC: 2-21485-20399-5 are printed on the back label of the bag. All Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies with sell-by dates March 8, 2012 through March 28, 2012 are affected by the recall. No other best buy dates or products are affected.

To date no illnesses have been reported.

The company initiated the recall when a labeling error was discovered by a store Team Member. The company is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration until the recall is complete. Customers who have purchased the affected product from Whole Foods Market stores may return them for a full refund.
