Titteringtons Recalls Cranberry Orange Scones

Woburn, MA - March 12, 2003 -- Today, officials from Titterington's Olde English Bake Shop, Ltd. announced that they are recalling cranberry orange scones because they may contain undeclared walnuts. People who have allergies to walnuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled product was distributed through GIANT Food Stores in Pennsylvania and MARTIN'S Food Markets in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. The product was sold within the in-store bakery department and sold under the GIANT or MARTIN'S label. The cranberry orange scones were sold as an 11 oz. package or individually from the self-service roll/muffin case.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the cranberry orange scones containing walnuts were distributed and did not reveal the presence of nuts. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who may have purchased this item between January 24 and March 10, 2003 and are allergic to walnuts should return the product to their local GIANT Food Store or MARTIN'S Food Market for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the GIANT Food Stores consumer affairs department at 1-888-814-4268.
