February 4, 2009.  As a result of the expansion of Peanut Corporation of America’s (PCA) recall of all peanut products from its Blakely, Georgia facility since Jan. 1, 2007, The Father’s Table, LLC is issuing a voluntary nationwide recall of the following product from retailers and distributors:

26 ounce Gourmet Brownie Variety (8 inch round, clear plastic dome with black base), UPC code 0-10374-26000-9, with manufacturing codes 0238 through 3428.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

This product is being voluntarily recalled solely as a precautionary measure due to PCA’s expanded recall and the FDA’s Salmonella investigation.  The Father’s Table takes the safety of its customers seriously and is working with the FDA on this recall.  A certified, independent lab has tested our lots of granulated PCA peanuts and finished product for Salmonella and the results were negative.

Companies or consumers who have purchased the recalled products should destroy or discard them.  Any questions - please contact Sheri Toro at (407)324-1200 x332 between the hours of 8:00 a.m.and 5:00 p.m. EST.
