Junior's Cheesecake and Desserts Conducts Nationwide Recall Of Selected 8" Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecakes Because Of Possible Health Risk

Brooklyn, NY -- February 17, 2009 --- Junior's Cheesecake & Desserts of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling its 8" Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake as a precautionary measure because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This action is a result of the PCA expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all peanut products manufactured in their Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007. The recalled cheesecakes contain peanut butter manufactured by the Peanut Corporation of America.

Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The 8" Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecakes were sold to consumers exclusively through QVC.

The recall involves Junior's 8" Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake (M18011), UPC code 748924608604, Batch 0278 and Batch 0218. Other batches are not involved in this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected 8" peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecakes are advised not to consume these items. Consumers have already been notified by QVC and have received a full refund.
