J&J Snack Foods Issues a Nationwide Recall of their Expired Frozen Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

Pennsauken, NJ -- February 19, 2009 --- J&J Snack Foods Sales Corp, Pennsauken, NJ announces that due to the expansion of Peanut Corporation of America’s Salmonella recall, they are initiating a voluntary nation-wide recall of expired raw, frozen, peanut butter cookie dough distributed to Food Service and Fundraiser customers because of possible health risks.

Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea vomiting and abdominal pain. Product manufactured with the expired date codes shown below should not be used. No illnesses have been reported to-date as a direct result of this problem. All of our other products with unexpired date codes are not affected by this recall. The expiration date codes are located on the side panels of the boxes and are not marked with the words “Expiration Date” or “Use By Date”.
