Hammi, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in "Lotty Lorry Korean Crackers"

Brooklyn, NY - March 28, 2003 -- Hammi, Inc. of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling its 1.83 ounce packages of "Lotty Lorry Korean Crackers" because they may contain undeclared egg. People who have allergies to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "Lotty Lorry Korean Crackers" were distributed nationwide to retail stores. The product comes in 1.83 ounce and 7.4 ounce cardboard boxes package and sealed foil bags marked as item#: 05928 and 08739.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by NYS Agriculture and Markets food inspectors discovered that the egg containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of eggs. The consumption of eggs by allergic individuals has been reported to elicit severe reactions. Life threatening and anaphylactic shock could occur in certain egg sensitive individuals upon consumption of eggs and products containing eggs.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
