Recall Details

February 6, 2009- Cookie Machine is announcing a voluntary recall of their peanut butter cookie dough due the potential contamination with Salmonella.  The potential contamination is due to the peanut products supplied by Peanut Corporation of America, which recently announced an expansion of a voluntary recall covering all peanut products made in their Blakely, GA plant since January 1, 2007.  Peanut Corporation of America is currently the focus of an ongoing investigation concerning the recent Salmonella outbreak.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Healthy persons infected with Salmonella experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illness such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The 4 lb. pail of Cookie Machine brand gourmet peanut butter is the ONLY dough involved.  The dough was distributed in Texas and could have been purchased through a retail store or through a fundraiser.

“No illnesses associated with this product have been reported to date.”

Consumers who purchased the peanut butter cookie dough are urged to discard any remaining dough immediately.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at 817-795-3905.  Consumers with questions or concerns about their health should contact their physician.
