Allann Bros Coffee Recalls All Products That Contain Peanuts Because of Possible Health Risk

Albany, OR -- Feb. 13, 2009--- Allann Bros Coffee of Albany, Oregon is recalling the following products, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products are as follows: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bundts, Cowboy Cookies, Monster Cookies, Double Delicious Bars, Turtle Brownies, Rice Pilaf, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Fudge Pie, Peanut Butter Fudge Cups, Sesame Peanut Noodle Salad, Thai Chicken Salad, Peanut Butter Cookies, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Peanut Butter Fudge Bars, Turkey Thai Peanut Soup. These products may have been manufactured using peanuts recalled by Peanut Corporation of America, because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The products containing peanuts were distributed to nine (9) "The Beanery café's" (owned and operated by Allann Bros Coffee) located in the following Oregon cities: Albany, Corvallis, Salem, Eugene and Ashland. Products were also distributed to five (5) other café's also located in Oregon: Table Rock Kiwanis located in Central Point, Burrito Amigos and Java Generations located in Eugene, Miss-Deb located in Monmouth, and Big Ho located in Independence. All fourteen (14) café's are located in Oregon.

All products are sold through café display case counters and have a food card identifying the name of the product. No other specific coding or UPC codes exist for these products. The products include:

No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the peanut product was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. Allann Bros Coffee has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
