Consumers should be aware that loading their machines with water-proof or water-resistant items, such as mattress pads, mattress covers and similar items, increases the chances of loads being unbalanced.

I have been getting the run around from LG and from the extended warranty company. What a rip off. This washer is a lemon, clothes end up in a knot, its constantly off balance and now after the recall fix there is no hot water option, and the clothes are sopping wet after the dry cycle, thus spending an hour in the dryer. LG needs to refund our purchase price or give us a different washer!

I just scheduled another technician from Sears...has anyone gotten this problem fixed or another washing machine to replace it?

File a complaint with your state attorney general's office! I just did!

I also had a machine that worked fine until the "recall" Now I have had board replaced and had techs out 3x and another visit scheduled next week. No one can tell me if they know how to fix it or if I will be wasting my time sitting around from 8 am to 5 pm AGAIN, so they can say they don't knw how to fix it. I just want the software patch they put in taken out!!!

We had our first service on Feb 8th. Have been without a functioning washing machine since then. They have come out 4 times to "fix it". Sears and LG are both passing the buck and neither can do anythign for us. We plan to sue the repair company that provided the recall service for lack of any other recourse. Hopefully, there is a class action suit we can join.

If you haven't done the recall service, DON"T DO IT!

Never had problems with machine until I got the recall notice and technician came out to do a software upgrade. Took over 2 hours to wash a load of towels. Technician ordered a main board for it. Had same problem. When he came back he said he should have ordered a control panel board which was on back order for 2 weeks. Another service call is scheduled for next week to install control panel board. Hope this works.

I have a Whirlpool WTW6600SW2 and the design is identical to these machines and the problems are identical so why is it not recalled? I guess it doesn't matter if there isn't fix, Thing about it is though I bought the machine in 2008 and bought the extended warranty, it had a recall a couple years ago on the circuit board and that's when the unbalance problems began so I'm assuming they must have changed the software too. I asked Whirlpool for help and was denied even though my extended warranty was only a few months out at the time so I replaced $600 worth of parts that would have everything to do with it spinning out of balance, waste of money. Looking for a new machine now. Guess I won't be looking at Sears!

I received my recall notice in January, 2013. I had purchased all my major appliances from Sears in August, 2011. I had noticed the excessive shaking before but thought I had just bought a "lemon". The Kenmore Elite defect also caused damage to the top cover of the tub which in turn destroyed several items of clothing. A technician did come out and replace the faulty software but what about the damage to my almost new machine-the sharp jagged points in the plastic cover which were caused by the recalled part???

We had the fix applied to our Kenmore Elite washer in mid Feb and it has increased our washing cycle for a small load from 57 mins. on a Normal cycle to 2 hrs! We are now scheduled for another service visit. They should have fully tested their software upgrade before inconveniencing their customers.

I bought a Kenmore Ellite washer in November 2012. Nothing but trouble but it is not on the recall list. I cannot run a load, large or small, without having to rebalance the load. Sears replaced the board on it 2 days ago and it stills does the same thing. They are coming again Tuesday, Don't know what they will do next but I did buy the extended warranty, which you should not have to do with a new appliance, but I will hound them until it works right.

Our washer EXPLODED 6 months ago. Then we got the recall letter. So they sent a tech out & he told them it was unrepairable. Sears solution. We will give you $500.00 towards a new washer. This is listed at 1200.00! Not to mention...why would anyone want to buy another piece of crap machine from a piece of crap companY? I have always bought major app. from Sears. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Save your money Buy a Samsung.

Don't beat yourself up about not getting the extended warranty coverage...I have it, and apparantly it doesn't work because this is a "manufacturer's safety issue"...interesting, why would a recall not be covered!?! I got the runaround about this being an LG issue, well the machine was sold under the Kenmore Elite name so why wouldn't it be covered? I was torn between this and the Bravos when I bought it...went for the Kenmore because it had a "sanitizing" cycle (which by the way is useless)...will always buy American from now on, at least the parts arrive quicker!

My washer was fine until the recall as well and nothing but problems since. Takes over an hr to wash a load of towels and they don't spin properly. So much for energy star! The whole experience with Sears from purchase date has been a nightmare. I guess that was a sign. I would love nothing more than to get together and do a class action law suit. Who really has time for that :) I hate SEARS

Where do I even begin on this post. Thought these horrible things were only happening to me. My washer was running fine for the most part. It would stop every once in awhile when I had a full load of sheets or a comforter in it. I would simply readjust the load by hand and restart the machine. My mom saw on the news of a recall and I called Sears repair and had a tech out. PROBLEM #1!! He was here 10 minutes, "ran diagnostic" on it as he said and left. Immediately I tried to start a load and the machine had no power. I called him on his cell phone and he came back and my washer hasn't been the same since. I have had 6 service calls on it and every tech has raised his hands in the air and said they don't know what to do. That was 8 weeks ago!!! It takes over 12 hours to do a load if it even finishes. "Drain and spin..." what a joke. The machine fills to the top with water multiple times. My water bill has been 5 times what it was this time last year. I have spent countless hours on the phone and waiting for techs to come out with no answers. Currently my case is "under review" and waiting to hear from LG. They don't seem to care and they said there is nothing they can do considering I didn't buy an extended warranty. Not the point! I had a functioning machine before they sent a tech to my house to "fix" it. Sorry to hear that you all have had the same problems and would love to get together for a class action suit. It wasn't a cheap machine and should last more than one year. Might even qualify for "lemon law."

Is anyone reading the new caution they are adding to this washer as a sticker? It says "Do not wash or spin any water-proof or water-resistant clothing, mattress covers, outdoor gear or plastic mats.

Why would anyone buy a washer you can't use to wash a mattress cover, winter coats, or snow pants? How about any athletic clothing? NO! There should be a class action law suite filed for this. Anyone? Had we known you can't wash those items, we would have never purchased this washer.

I experienced this problem. The entire tub dislodged from the machine and was on the other side of the room. Sears came out and told me there was nothing they could do. I didnt have the extended warranty and my one year warranty had just expired so it was my problem. I had to purchese a new machine.

A technician came to our house to fix the recall problem. He said all that was needed was to reprogram the machine. It only took about 10 minutes. Less than a week later the problem is worse than ever. Today, it is taking over 3 hours to do a load of bedsheets. The washer stops with an even load. When trying the spin and drain cycle, water fills the machine. Whatever the fix, LG and Kenmore better do a better job of having a solution before doing any service calls!

I have had the same problem. Sears came out to repair it but the technician said there is nothing he can do to fix the problem. Sears will not replace it because I didn't purchase their extended warranty. I will not buy another Sears product!
